Folina

WHAT IS FOLINA?

Folina estimates nitrate-nitrogen(NO₃⁻-N) concentration
in the leaf blade without cutting the leaf.
It makes crop nutrition visible
and
supports on-site fertilization decisions.

HOW FOLINA DIFFERS FROM CONVENTIONAL PLANT SAP TESTING

Conventional plant sap testing requires crushing leaves or petioles and squeezing out plant sap.
Folina estimates leaf nitrate-N simply by clipping onto the leaf.
Conventional plant sap testing
Crush the leaf or petiole and extract sap
・About 10 minutes per sample
・Labor-intensive, which limits sampling frequency
Folina
Clip onto the leaf .
・About 7 seconds per sample
・Lower labor, supporting frequent routine testing

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM FOLINA

For growers

Smarter fertilization,
steadier crop management
1
Better-timed fertilization
2
Lower overfertilization risk.
3
Less fertilizer waste.

For researchers

Faster validation,
continuous time-series data
1
Less labor than plant sap testing.
2
Non-destructive tracking of the same plant.
3
Faster validation of cultivation methods.

Combine Root-Zone and Plant Data for Better Fertilization Decisions

ROOT-ZONE DATA
EC / irrigation
LEAF NITRATE-N
About 7 sec. / non-destructive
BETTER-INFORMED DECISIONS
Compare / track / adjust
Better plant data supports more efficient fertilizer use.

FAQ

Q
Can Folina be used with crops other than tomato?
A
Folina is currently available for tomato.
Applications for other crops are under development and validation.
Q
How can I view the results?
A
Results are displayed on the device screen.
Compatible models can also be used with the Vegemoni cloud system.
Q
How long does a measurement take?
A
A single measurement takes approximately 7 seconds.
The total time varies depending on the selected number of measurements.
Q
Do I need any special skills to use Folina?
A
No. Simply clip the sensor onto the leaf and follow the recommended measurement procedure.
Q
Can I request a demo?
A
Demo units are currently available in Japan only. Please contact us to discuss availability.
